Tesla opens up its exclusive charging network

What: A massive network of charging stations is one of the biggest selling points of Tesla, but that’s set to change soon. Tesla will open up 7,500 chargers to all electric vehicles by the end of 2024.

Between the lines: Tesla currently has 2 type of chargers -

• Level 3: "Fast" chargers, capable of 200 miles of charge in 15 minutes.

• Level 2: Slow chargers, capable of 10-50 miles per hour.

The company is opening up only 20% of its fast chargers, or about 3,500 to public, along with 4,000 slower chargers.

Zoom Out: Last week the US Gov announced a $5B plan to build National EV charging network over the next five years. Allowing other EVs to use superchargers will allow Tesla to tap into this fund and grow its the network of superchargers.

Big Picture 🔍

Airbnb: On fire🔥! The company beat all analyst expectations delivering EPS of 48 cents vs 25 cents expected, with 24% increase in Q4 revenue YoY. Adding to that, the company also issued strong guidance for 2023!

Airbnb is also one of the few tech companies with NO layoffs since 2022, and is expecting to hire more this year!

Github: Copilot, the AI-powered code completion tool is now available for business at $10/mo. Under the hood of Copilot is a generative AI model that suggests new code lines, functions, tests and documentation based on the context of the program. More than 1 million developers already use Copilot, helping them code up to 55% faster.

IKEA: Launched a new smart sensor to measure and monitor indoor air quality. The sensor will monitor particulate matter, PM2.5 levels (most harmful pollutants), along with humidity, temperature and TVOC (total volatile organic compound).
