Every app is going to be an AI app

In today’s update, we’ll see how Snapchat (consumer app) and Atlassian (enterprise app) are integrating AI.

Snapchat rolls out AI chatbot

What: Snap’s chatbot, “My AI”, is now available to all 750 million monthly users!

The chatbot was first introduced in February to ~3 million Snapchat+ subscribers, a premium service costing $3.99 a month. The chatbot is now averaging 2 million messages per day.

Why it matters: Chatbots have become popular over the last couple of months after the launch of OpenAI’s breakthrough AI models.
Snap is using GPT-4 under the hood and is one of the better implementations out there.

With bunch of additional features, the chatbot:

1. Can be personalized: You could design a custom Bitmoji and give it a name.

2. Supports group chats: Add your AI to group chats

3. Has higher engagement: offers recommendations for places on Snap Map and the chatbot can also send you snaps (using text-to-image AI).

But, this hasn’t been without hiccups: the chatbot can go off rails, suggesting inappropriate content to minors. More details in WP’s report here.

Atlassian adds AI to enterprise apps

What: Jira and Confluence apps are getting an AI boost! Atlassian is integrating AI with goal of improving productivity.

Atlassian’s AI learns from your company’s internal data to offer better recommendations, generate relevant content and summarize documents.

Zoom out: We’ve seen tons of new AI announcements over the last couple of months. Under the hood, almost all of them are powered by OpenAI!

AI capabilities were once seen as a differentiating feature but now they are everywhere, from personal to office apps.
