Hallucination fix for AI models

Information can be represented in a vector space

What: Large Language Models like ChatGPT are all the rage right now but there are still two major challenges:

  1. Hallucination - LLM could respond with factually incorrect answers.

  2. Stale Information - LLMs answers are based on stale training data. For example, ChatGPT’s knowledge cut off is September 2021!

Pinecone raised $100m at $750M valuation to solve both the problems.

Their approach is to store data as vector embeddings in a easy-to-use database. The AI models query the database for correct and latest information using APIs, essentially becoming the “memory” layer in the new AI application stack!

What’s next: Pinecone is in explosive growth mode, with 8x increase in paid customers in just three months!

An emerging trend is a class of startups building the “AI Application stack”. Think of LLMs as a new form of computation and reasoning engine, which powers the business logic of applications.

Last week, New Jersey-based CoreWeave locked up a $221 million investment, to build flexible cloud infrastructure to train AI models.
