Amazon upgrades Alexa with Generative AI
Amazon’s Alexa home assistants are getting a major upgrade with integration of generative AI models. Alexa gets a more human-like voice capable of holding natural conversations without being prompted by a wake word.
Alexa will also be able to perform real-world actions by controlling your devices. For instance “Alexa, there’s a mess in here” would trigger a robotic vacuum cleaner. Plus, it learns from your conversations to offer personalized responses. Take a look at the demo video.
New AI chip is 25x efficient
SambaNova, a silicon-valley startup with $1B in funding, released a new processor capable of running massive AI models at 25 times more efficiently than the current industry standard GPUs
An AI model with 5 Trillion parameters can be run on a cluster of just 8 chips, something that today needs hundreds of GPUs.
But instead of selling chips, the startup will sell access to its custom-built technology stack, allowing companies to have their own large language models (LLM) up and running in just days.
