Microsoft integrates AI in windows 11

Seismic shift in how you work with Windows

What: Microsoft is bringing AI to all users with Windows Copilot! This is a completely new shift in how you interact with your PC. Instead of manually figuring out individual settings and tasks, Copilot will take over to help you focus on your work!

Here’s a quick breakdown of what’s new:

  • AI assistant for Windows: Personalize and navigate your PC with ease. No more fiddling around with settings!

  • Works with your documents: Paste text or drag and drop any document to explain, rewrite and summarize.

  • Works with all your apps: Ability to control other apps running on your computer is a huge update! For instance, you could ask Copilot to play music or start focus mode and disable notifications.

  • New AI Dev Home: Microsoft wants to "Empower every Windows 11 developer to be an AI developer". Dev home helps you improve productivity with dedicated dev space that's easy to setup and brings everything together in one view.

  • Dedicated AI hub in Microsoft store: Dedicated section for best AI apps along with AI generated review summary of customer reviews.

Bigger Picture: The message between the lines is that Microsoft is betting big on AI and is pushing equally hard on it. This strategy likely kicked off in 2019 with $1B investment in OpenAI, eventually leading to a 49% stake in the company.

Since the beginning of 2023, Microsoft has been relentlessly integrating AI into all its core products - from Office apps to Teams.

Now, AI is poised to occupy one of the most valuable spot in digital world: The center button on the Windows desktop.
