Meta bets on Chatbots

Chatbots like ChatGPT can certainly enhance productivity, but the impending evolution of chatbots is now targeting white-collar jobs.

Meta is gearing up to launch chatbots with different "personas", that can take the form of different characters, for example -

  • Tax-bot: Chatbot trained on Tax-code to help you file taxes.

  • Finance-bot: Chatbot to help you manage your money.

  • Travel-bot: Chatbot to advise on travel options personalized to your style.

  • Warren-bot: Chatbot to help you invest like Warren Buffet.

The core idea is the chatbots can be trained to mimic a general job like an accountant or a personality like Gordon Ramsey or Bill Gates.

Meta is not the first - Character.ai, a startup offering customizable AI companions with distinct personalities recently raised $150 million in series A with a valuation of nearly $1 billion!

Bigger Picture: Engagement rate on platforms owned by Meta has been declining. According to some estimates, engagement on Threads is down 70% since launch! Mark Zuckerberg is betting on AI chatbots to boost engagement with plans to launch “AI Agents” for billions of users!
