Mercedes is adding ChatGPT to cars!

What: Voice assistant in Mercedes is getting a ChatGPT upgrade!

Just like “Hey Siri” for your iPhone, Mercedes offers “Hey Mercedes” to interact with the car’s infotainment system. Starting today, 900,000 users in the US will be able to opt-in for the new voice assistant powered by ChatGPT.

ChatGPT greatly expands the car’s ability to understand and respond to commands, improving the overall user experience.

With this integration, you could ask questions about the destination, look for restaurants and more - while keeping hands on the wheel.

Under the hood, the feature is powered by Microsoft’s Azure OpenAI Service, and Mercedes anonymizes all conversations for data privacy

Oregon’s Live 99.5 Radio show will be hosted by an AI DJ

What: Live 95.5, a radio station based in Portland, Oregon, introduced an AI DJ, named "AI Ashley," which is a digital clone of its midday host, Ashley Elzinga.

The AI DJ will broadcast a synthetic version of Elzinga's voice to listeners every day from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Tech: "AI Ashley" is powered by RadioGPT, an AI tool that uses GPT-4 to generate scripts based on trending news and reads them in a synthetic voice. RadioGPT scans over 250,000 news sources and social media platforms to identify trending topics and generates scripts, which are then reviewed and edited by human moderators before being broadcast.

Why it matters: Voice cloning tech merged with knowledge and reasoning skills of Generative AI are set to disrupt traditional industries. One one hand, it could eventually displace jobs, but on the other hand it could also revive niche communities that were otherwise not profitable to run.
