Google strikes back with new AI models

What: Google held their annual I/O event yesterday with AI taking the spot light. Almost 100 new products and features were announced, but here are the top 4 you should know-

New Google Search

A new chatGPT style search experience, directly integrated in Google Search.

AI-generated answers will now appear on top of your google search results, above the sponsored content and links.

New AI Model: PaLM2

The latest AI model excels at reasoning, logic, maths and understands multiple languages!

Duet AI for Workspace

It’s not just about chatbots and search. Google is bringing AI to make Workspace more useful, starting with Sheets, Docs, Slides and Email.

AI Magic Erase in Google Photos

You can easily edit images using AI with advanced edits like repositioning subjects, changing backgrounds or removing objects.

What’s next: Google’s I/O event was focused on AI and packed with product launches. But most of the tools aren’t publicly available and have a waitlist which you can sign up for here.

Google also released a 92-pager “technical report” on PaLM2 AI model, but the technical report is light on technical details, avoiding direct comparison with ChatGPT or GPT-4 model.

We’re yet to see how Google’s AI stacks up against OpenAI, but the stock market is definitely happy.
