Fairness benchmark by Meta
Meta released a new AI benchmark, FACET to assess the “fairness” of AI models used in the classification and detection of objects in images and videos, including individuals.
Image classification models often have deep biases and stereotypes towards gender, demographics, occupation etc. FACET’s dataset contains images of 50,000 people in 32,000 images, each manually labelled by human annotators to identify demographic and physical attributes like skin tone, tattoos, hairstyle etc.
FACET benchmark can help developers understand the extent of biases and stereotypes present in their AI models.
