What: A New York lawyer relied on ChatGPT to draft submission for a case in the court but it backfired!

The lawyer's submission cited 6 relevant court decisions but there was one issue: The cases didn't exist.

Everything generated by ChatGPT was fake, including case-captions, citation numbers, dates, even the court and name of judges.

The lawyer cut corners to verify the authenticity of those cases too. Instead of researching online if those cases actually existed, he asked ChatGPT if they really existed - and it lied again.

Why it matters: Large Language models like ChatGPT are smart prediction machines, but they can hallucinate. The AI could confidently respond with output that looks real but is all made up. So, while it’s helpful, be sure to double check the output.

In-Game NPCs get an AI boost

NVIDIA’s AI generated Video Games

What: Even though the video games have advanced over the last decade, the interaction with Non-Playable Characters or NPCs is still scripted and tightly constrained.

This is all set to change with new generative AI from NVIDIA. You could now have dynamic and intelligent conversations with NPCs, enabling them to evolve their ‘personalities’ as you progress through the game!

NVIDIA announced new Avatar Cloud Engine (ACE) that allows developers to add AI-powered natural language interactions to the NPCs. Developers could fine-tune the AI for their game characters and instantly create expressive facial animations from just an audio source!
